Summary-Chapter 23—lab, experiment, and field reports

Summary
Chapter 23—lab, experiment, and field reports
This chapter will help we put experiments and field research into writing and good writing into science.
Goal: the goal is to accurately record and thoughtfully interpret the results of a scientific study or experiment so clearly that others could repeat experiment.
Use keys success
Follow the scientific method.
Observe something interesting
Check whether other scientists have explained the same observation
Summarize your observations and turn that generalization into a testable hypothesis-a working theory explaining the phenomenon.
Deign research to test the hypothesis, paying attention to variables and controls.
Base on the results of your experiment, accept, reject,or modify your hypothesis.
Repeat steps 3 though 5 until you understand the phenomenon
Use guidelines
1. review the lab manual and any handouts
2. use a field or lab notebook
3. plan and complete your study or experiment
4. relying on your notebook, draft the report
5. share and revise the draft
6. edit and proofread
7. prepare and share your report
